An incredibly beautiful and rather rare snare drum, completely original and in excellent condition. 14"x4", Aqua Satin Flame coated finish.
This model was first released in 1954 as the "Broadkaster Max Roach", model #4175; renamed the Progressive Jazz in 1961, it went out of production in 1971.
6-ply shell, die-cast hoops, eight double lugs, Micro Sensitive snare wire with adjustment at both ends, Snap In key holder, internal muffler, original 20-strand Responso snare wire.
What more can I say? The sound is extraordinarily warm, dark, and full-bodied. The sensitivity is excellent at all dynamics, and this gem reacts well to any skin tension.
A snare drum that will appeal to most jazz drummers, destined to see its already considerable and deserved value grow in the near future.
