GRETSCH Power Grand Prix 1990s Wine Red.
GRETSCH Power Grand Prix 1990s Wine Red.
Yet another wonderful Gretsch Power Grand Prix has just jumped in the Garage di Asso.
In excellent condition, just a few scratches here and there, and completely original. It dates back to the early 90s.
The Wine Red lacquer is very elegant, the maple grain is wonderfully highlighted on all the shells of this beautiful set, and the color is extremely homogeneous on all the drums. The pictures, especially if taken by myself, do not do justice to these beautiful drums.
Jasper shells (Maple and Gum), 30° edges, die cast hoops, 9002 tom holder. The typical Jimmy Pratt muffler was present on the bass drum, unfortunately the felt has been removed but the knob and bindings remain. We can see the bass drum spur on the front wood hoop, which was often removed and lost. The toms and floor tom do not have internal mufflers.
22”x16” (M4247WR, serial 33784), 12”x10” (M4415WR, serial 33696), 13”x11” (M4416WR, serial 33728), 16”x16” (M4418WR, serial 33712).
An absolutely excellent set, a true benchmark for any professional level drum kit.
A final, very personal consideration: having been able to own and play, over the years, both the Grand Prix with standard shells and the Power with deeper shells, I find that the latter have not only a more present volume, but also a roundness and softness. greater tone than the standard ones, which are also fabulous. I prefer them without a shadow of a doubt, but it's a personal taste and opinion, I repeat.
