CUSTOM Concert tom set, 1980s.
CUSTOM Concert tom set, 1980s.
A fully restored, reconditioned and assembled drum set. Sonor Teardrop 20”x14” bass drum with beech shell, and a set of six concert toms of an unknown brand, certainly Taiwanese, produced in the late 70s/early 80s, sizes 8”x6.5”, 10”x7”, 12”x8”, 13”x9”, 14”x10”, 15”x12”. The wood of these toms is Philippine mahogany (Luan).
I want to thank my friends Roberto Villani (RV Drums) and Carlo Goberti for having restored these seven drums and given me the opportunity to propose a set that is definitely old-fashioned, 70s style.
The shells were coated with a very thin Green Sparkle film and then lacquered, the inside was painted grey. The 8” tom originally had 4 tension rods, now it has 5, the 10” had 5 and now has 6 like the 12” and 13”, while the 14”, the 15” and the bass drum have 8. The tom holders are Gibraltar SC-TL2.
Three brand new Tama HTW49WN stands are included in the set; the heads are Code Boomer Nicko Mc Brain for the toms, while the bass drum has a Remo Controlled Sound batter and Evans EQ2 resonant.
A very beautiful drum kit, dedicated to those who, like me, love the powerful, precise, dry and punchy sound of concert toms.
